BLACKBELT GRADINGS

FINDING A PARTNER

KATA 6

COMPETITIONS

Events:

The main event to consider once the Jan/Feb gradings are over is the Interclub Tournament on 29th March. This is a tournament run by White lotus for White Lotus students (occasionally we invite other clubs). This is a chance for new students to enjoy a controlled bout to gain experience. There are points and continuous fights as well as a forms category. The earlier you get your entry forms in, the better the chance of finding you the best match possible.

There is also an event on in Worcester at Perdiswell Leisure Centre on Saturday 16th May. This is an evening show, open to the public and we have been asked to put forward some fighters - for full and light contact. The instructors have a provisional list, but if you are interested please speak to your instructor.

There should also be some other tournaments - but the fight coaches don't seem to be getting it together. If they do, can they please put my name down to fight - many thanks. Michelle

Busy Classes:

As always in January, the classes are quite busy - you might find that your instructor is a bit forgetful with all that they have to remember, so if they do forget something for you, please ask them - they will not bite your head off - unless it is about grading results.

Whilst I'm on the subject - there will be a letter out soon that outlines expectations for Brown belts and other grades - such as not asking about grading results.

New Students:

All students are welcome to attend any courses and events - you will not be out of place/left behind - new students are very important to the association.

Mixed Martial Arts Syllabus:

This needs some explanation - We are now able to offer mixed Martial Arts which includes ground fighting as well as gradings. IT IS NOT COMPULSORY TO DO ANY MIXED MARTIAL ARTS - we will offer parts of it in the normal lessons - but if you don't wish to do it there will be an alternative.

In June - there will be a grading to grade to the equivalent grade in Mixed Martial Arts - if you are a White Belt you will be graded to white, if you are a Black Belt you will be graded to Blackbelt. You must know the syllabus though!!!! The syllabus will be available on the website soon.

We would like feedback for this before we order the 2nd edition of our syllabus book in July.

Blackbelt Gradings:

Good luck to those students taking Dan grades in May. For those grading in November - start training now - remember that you need 2 courses and a refs course and you need to get your application form signed by 3 instructors.

Finding a Partner:

Can all parents please explain to their children about finding a partner - any one will do - look around the room - put your hand in the air if you do not have one!! - Simple enough you would think.
