| FAQ 1: What types of Martial Arts can I learn? | |||
Answer: Kickboxing, Weapons, Karate, Self-defence, Tai Chi – there are bits from all Martial Arts incorporated into the class but you can specialise with extra tuition in and out of the class and at courses that we offer. |
| FAQ 2: Will the club recognise grades from other styles? | |||
Answer: Yes – you have a choice of routes – you can grade again from the beginning, you can become familiar with the syllabus and then be put into a grading and be awarded a grade to suit your abilities or you can keep your grade, become familiar with the syllabus and then grade for the next grade when you are competent at that level. |
| FAQ 3: Are there male and female instructors? | |||
Answer: There are usually male and female instructors at every class. It is best to phone up if you have specific preferences to discuss which class would suit you best. |
| FAQ 4: What qualifications do the instructors have? | |||
| Answer: All instructors are qualified to NVQ Level 3 Learning & Development, have an instructor diploma, are CRB checked and are first aid qualified. Each instructor has a Blackbelt in at least one style of Martial Arts. | |||
| FAQ 5: Do all the instructors have CRB certificates? | |||
Answer: Yes. |
| FAQ 6: Are the instructors friendly? | |||
Answer: Yes. |
| FAQ 7: What age do you take children from? | |||
Answer: From 5 years, but sometimes this is too young for children to appreciate the class so it is best to let them try it to see if they like it. |
| FAQ 8: Can I train with my child? | |||
Answer: Definitely, but you will need to check which class will suit you best. We have a number of families training with us. |
| FAQ 9: At what grade should a child be joining in an adult class? | |||
Answer: At blue belt, but some children join the adult classes earlier than this as it is a more serious training environment and they find that they learn more. |
| FAQ 10: Do we have to buy a uniform? | |||
Answer: We only insist that students have a uniform at blue belt but some prefer to have one earlier. |
| FAQ 11: What do I wear? | |||
Answer: You should wear
loose, comfortable clothing – especially with room for kicking –
we don’t want to hear any rips!!! Most students train in bare feet
but you can wear Martial Arts shoes or trainers. |
| FAQ 12: Do males and females train together? | |||
Answer: Yes, but all are very friendly! |
| FAQ 13: How will injuries and illnesses affect my training? | |||
Answer: It is important to discuss any injuries and illnesses with the instructor before training so that they can cater for your needs during the lesson. |
| FAQ 14: How often do I have to train? | |||
Answer: We recommend that you train a minimum of twice a week, but this is not compulsory until Brown Belt. |
| FAQ 15: I am a shift worker, how will this affect my training? | |||
Answer: We have a number
of classes in different locations and at different times and you can attend
any as long as you discuss which classes you will be attending with the
instructor so that they can plan the lesson. |
| FAQ 16: Can I pay monthly? | |||
Answer: Yes. |
| FAQ 17: Do I have to spar / fight? | |||
Answer: No – we have different aspects of the syllabus for you to develop if you do not want to or are unable to spar. |
| FAQ 18: Will I get hurt? | |||
Answer: Accidents do happen but we do our best to ensure Health & Safety issues are a priority. You can take part without sparring, but should you wish to spar the contact is light initially and can be built up to suit your sparring level. |
| FAQ 19: Do I need to be fit? | |||
Answer: Definitely not – it is our job to get you fit – slowly of course! |
| FAQ 20: Do I have to grade? | |||
Answer: No, you can train for fun, fitness or for self-defence. |
| FAQ 21: Can I enter competitions? | |||
Answer: Yes, we have local and national events for you to enter. |
